Lamitta Frangieh "I Haven't Been Raped On Camera"

Lebanese model turned actress Lamitta Frangieh is the gal most Egyptian producers and directors call on if they wanted a girl to bear it all, a girl that can tell raunchy jokes, play with the boys and look good in a bikini.  For Lamitta Frangieh, it's all business and all is for a paycheck. Nothing is wrong with that. For most Arab viewers, she has no standards as she seems to do more roles without her clothes than with.

But in one interview for Al-Ain newspaper, the model has shared with her criteria. "I have yet to appear in a role where I get raped," "Most of my roles have been light and humor filled" "If I do film a rape scene, then I have boundaries I won't cross," "at the end, I am a girl form the East"

She added, "those scenes have to be part of the plot and not feel forced" Lamitta's latest movie is a romantic comedy about Facebook about an Egyptian man who lives in Jordan and gets in trouble due to the social network site. The film will be dreicted by Jordanian American director Mohy Qandoor

P.S. Rape is a serious issue and I do not take it lightly. I just think the comments were insensitive.

Jad Rahme Is An Old School Man From The Old Country

Behind the publicity and the live shows, Jad Rahme is Lebanon’s next big voice.  He is already being compared to some of the worlds biggest international Arabic stars and now is ready to show the world what Lebanon knows already~ His talent is undeniable. This Montreal based Lebanese singer is the go to star if you want to fire up your party attendees. Jad's music packs so much of the old world flavors, it's uncanny who he managed to preserve the Lebanese style so well.

Jad has toured and performed in countless clubs, restaurants, private, special events, festivals and celebrations within every major city in North America.  He is now looking forward to be touring at an international level. When asked why his new single is called Ana Rijal(which, in Arabic means “I'm a man”), he had this to say, “I want every man out there to listen to my song, sing along and feel proud to be a real man, not because of what he owns, but because of who he is.”

Now, this is something I can stand behind, men need to man up and stop trying to be so girly in pursuit of popularity. Jad found a good subject to sing about and bring a little bit of joy in the lives of those who get to listen to his songs. And yes you will most likely want to dance, women like a man who is confident and who brings something to the relationship that they do not already have. No female will even want a guy who cries more than she does.

After receiving enthusiastic reviews online, the recording is gaining international attention. Ana Rijal is available on iTunes, Amazon mp3, Emusic, Rhapsody and  Soundcloud. “I'm pumped to be releasing new music”, says Jad.  As an independent artist, Jad is currently considering offers with record labels. Ana Rijal has been his break through hit.  The song itself is “not only is it catchy, it's melody addictive. It's entwined with an old-school beat, making it a modern mix of that traditional “dabke” we all love so much!”

“The whole process has been amazing and I hope that this new track will please my fans.”  Jad was happy to receive such great feedback from fans and friends through his Facebook page before releasing the hard copy. The page has been flooded with encouraging comments and congratulations from many established musicians and artists such as George Dfouni and Koko Balkorkian.

Jad recorded the vocals for Ana Rijal in Toronto, Ontario with world famous composer/producer/singer Salah Kurdi, who is the artist responsible for the lyrics and music of the single.  Instrumentals were recorded in Studio Joe Baroutjian in Beirut and then the recording was returned to Toronto where Ali Ramadan mixed mastered it.

For a really love time, good Arabic singers have almost always came form the old country to the States for concerts  With Jad, I am feeling he might be the first North American grown singer to be able to go back to the motherland and stand his own ground musically.

Jad Choueiri Directs Diana Haddad's Next Video

The hip and bold music video director Jad Choueiri is taking up a new challenge. His assignment is to make traditional conservative Lebanese singer and mother of two cute girls Diana Haddad look hot. Together they filmed the music video in Beirut and in London.

Diana Haddad has those natural looks, she is non threatening and most people tend to like her. She has never gotten herself in a side fight or a controversy. This is why it's so surprising to hear the news about her next music video for a new single will be directed by none by bad boy Jad Choueiri. Jad seems to really have wanted the gig and Diana needed a fresh take as her last music videos have failed to bring her in a good light.

To her credit, Diana said, she went to the guy for his recent work, not the bold music videos he directed in 2004 to 2008. The guy seems to want to get creative without all that over the top sexy themes. The good news, the lyrcis for the new song "My heart is Loyal" has been written by the lyricists who seems never to make a bad a song, Faris Iskander.

Ehab Tawfik Allegedly Threatens Bodily Harm To A Store Owner

Egyptian 90s pop star is not having a good year, and this story if true indicates that he has finally hit rock bottom.  A local Cairo fashion store owner reported to the police that Egyptian singer Ehab Tawfik has threatened him and sated that he will harm that individual.

Ahmed Abdallah Said, a store owner in Al Agooza bosh Cairo pocket claims the star has purchased clothes form his store. Then the pop star attempted to return the clothes and get a refund. The store owner declined, an argument broke out which allegedly caused Ehab to lose his cool.

The incident is being investigated. The story has been reported in Al-Ahram, a reputable newspaper.

If this story is true, once again we find out that stars are just like us, they get pissed off if they are unable to return merchandise the you longer care for. This is a bad news for both the store owner--who will lose some of his more affluent customers out of fear. And it's bad for the star as it shows him as a erratic and violent individual.

Ehab had a concert in Virginia here few weeks ago, maybe he should have hit the mall in Georgetown while he was in town.

Saad Ramadan In A Red Ferrari @ BAU!!

Saad Ramadan was invited to do a concert in Tripoli in Lebanon. the concert was disguised as an award for the young singer's career. That means he did not get a big paycheck, just an award. He drove to the even tin a Red Ferrari and entered the stage where he sang, collected his ward, then sat in the cafe to take pictures with the young fans--girls and boys alike.

As why does he need a Ferrari--other than looking cool and insecure I do not understand. It's unclear weather he owns the car. The event took place in Beirut Arab University – L'Université Arabe de Beyrouth - BAU. His young career means he has a long way to learn how to attract positive attention for himself.

Saad has not released any new songs in a more than year now, he says he is working on a big surprise songs that will make us happy. To be clear, I like the fancy car, but a celebrity driving one and taking pictures of his ride reminds me of those broke rappers who like to flash whatever cash they have.

The Media Loves To Pick On Menna Fadali

She is an Egyptian entertainer who seems to do nothing right according to the males in the media. She is only 30 years old, but Egyptian press loves to bash her. She is like their own version of Lindsey Lohan. Lately, she has been dubbed as Mena and Her Five Scandals. Let's get dirty, shall we?

  • Her birthday and the leaked photos of her having fun--she is not the first girl to have birthday party and things get out of control. She is no responsible for people with ill intentions who leaked those private photos.
  • She wears "Hot" clothes and has a tattoo? c'mon people! You mean to tell me all those Lebanese celebrities you celebrate in Egypt are all hookers? They bring them to Egypt for their hot clothes and their tats.
  • Again, leaked pictures of her wearing a bikini on the beach! Why are you not locking up the people who took those pictures? Do you want people taking pictures of your sister on the beach--even people not wearing bikinis get picked on.
  • She was assaulted while on a car with a famous dancer--she accused them of stealing her stuff and valuables. She accused people from the Sinai of doing that. This is stupid and I cannot defend that. If it was true, then she has every right to be pissed. This is hardly a scandal. Women go with guys all the time and it's legal.
  • Supposedly her erratic behavior lead to her third breakup--we now know his family did not approve of her. She pledged to not fall in love again and focus on her work instead.
So give Menna a break, she is hardly a saint, but can we see something good about her. I have also seen a number of comments describing Menna is a Palestinian--maybe she has a parent who is one. The term is used as an insult.

Nancy Ajram Should Keep Away From Arab Idol

To be on TV on weekly audience is not a job for the weak in heart, nor is it for those who are busy with a lovely family and a super impressive music career. Nancy is a successful lady, a lovable person and a sweet spirit. She will most certainly be a great addition to the show and she will get the flocks of viewers too.

It will started with a tweet from super star and classy singer Ragheb Alama who has tweeted in Arabic the following "A little birdie told me, there's a possibly Nancy Ajram might be one of the judges on Arab Idol Season 2, this is good news for me and certainly for you too" Nancy did not comment but she re-tweeted the Ragheb tweet.

Let's look at this, Nancy is already over stretched with her music career bringing her media appearances in Lebanon, Egypt and the Gulf. She has two little girls who love their mommy and a committed husband. Together they make and they are sweet family, the Arab Idol will require too much time, and it will over expose the songstress on TV. She will be in every house for the duration of the season.

She will get the media coverage, and she will always be on the news as long as she is on this show, so there might be an overload for Nancy Ajram from the listener point of view. I would check with the other singers and see how has this affected their careers and their lives as well.

It might rub some people the wrong way and it might allow people to stare at her soul in the face as every comment and gesture she makes will be recorded and analyzed at home. I do not know if Nancy Ajram is up to that. She is one of those talented singers who have done literary everything right. She has the career many around the world can only dream of; the family that one prays for and the love of the masses--young and old.

I would like to see her on TV, but as a business decision it might be a risky one. Either way the audience wins.

Honey Boo Boo And Nancy Ajram Music Video

Just like Honey Boo Boo, America's latest celebrity child, Arab girls can also have fun and be in music video. The new reality TV show stars "Toddlers in Tiaras" breakout star Alana Thompson, better known as Honey Boo Boo, and her Georgia family. Checkout this very recent music video by the Lebanese pop starlet Nancy Ajram--a song she dedicated to little girls all over the world. Titled, "Oh, Little Girls" a song about how cool it would be to father a daughter. Nancy and her girls live in Beirut and just like Honey boo boo, they like to have themselves a grand time.

Nancy has two little girls of her won, and she made a music video with all girls cast--and a female director as well. There are many happy little girls in the music video-I do take notice of the stereotypical character little girls are pushed toward. Girls are supposed to want to get married since they are so little. Aside form that, this is a really good music video for a sweet song about being a girl or better yet being a father to one.

The Latest Arabic Entertinament News Roundup

  1. Moroccan songstress Laila Ghofran invested in an Egyptian restaurant in Morocco. She flew from Egypt to launch the restaurant in a first non music activity. The idea came to her as she was looking into starting up a business. She does not find Egyptian food in Morocco  so she hired two Egyptian chefs to bring the authentic flavors to the Maghreb. In other news, Laila has a new album that should be released in time for Eid- Al Adha.
  2. Rumors that Nancy Ajram will be the next judge on Arab Idol Season 2. Ragheb Alama tweeted the rumor which Nancy Ajram re-tweeted to her followers. Not sure if Nancy will be replacing on of the four judges and if so who would it be?
  3. X-Factor is looking for a judge and it seems Iraqi songstress Shatha Hassoun has thrown her hat in the race for the post. X-Factor is the only Western show that has not been adapted in Arabia. Shatha has not confirmed or denied the news, but she is getting a new manger whose former clients included Rashid Al Majid.
  4. Fayrouz Karawya will be headline a concert in the Egyptian House of Opera on October 19, 2012. The concert will be held in the open air pavilion. The songstress will perform her new songs from "Baram Menny", the delightful album that took six years to make.
  5. The Arab legend and master of Lebanese song Wadih Al Safy is recovering in a Beirut hospital. He is out of the ICU and has been receiving droves of visitors in his hospital suite. Wadih is a survivor who meants a lot to different people. We wish him well.

Video: More On Miss Lebanon 2012 And Celebrities

Twins Rina and Romy Chibany were crowned Miss Lebanon 2012 and runner-up. This might be a good decsion given the medai coverage the decision has received.

The 21-year-old sisters, from Zahle in the Bekaa, were among 16 contestants from across Lebanon who took part in the competition, which included contests in the swimwear. Rina was handed over the crown by last year’s winner, Yara Khoury-Mikhael, and has now guaranteed her place in the Miss Universe contest, to be held in Las Vegas on Dec. 19.

Speaking to Elnashara news website moments after she was crowned, Rina said, “I’m very happy to have won. I promise to restore the pride of this position, in deeds, not in words. Read more

Also, she added, that she’d “have been much happier if my sister had won,” but vowed to cooperate with Romy throughout her reign. Aside for the two glamours sisters. Nancy Ajram was among the 9 judges. Wael Kfoury performed--though he was criticized for performing in playback and looking casual in one of his songs. Wael did well, give the man a break folks--rumor has it he has some family issues to deal with. SThe Nora Jones of Lebanon Hiba Thawji was in attendance and so was he Lebanses version of Lady Gaga Maya Diab.

Evidently, this was the place to be seen. There were drama too--they was a word of a rumored winner who tanked--which upset her father who took her away form the stage live on TV due to her low grades.

Dana Halabi Launches Children Foundation

Dana Halabi or Dana, the pop star who is no stranger to making raunchy music videos has finally found a  good cause where she can fight for children of the Arab Spring.  Dana Halabi will work with her foundation to help bring some happiness and joy in some of the broken spirits, she sees on TV screens in places where the Arab Spring has visited.

The headquarters office will be in Beirut and the foundation will be working to offer support to children who have lost family members due to the political fevers. The goal is to work with a thousand child who need such services. A management company and a public relations firm has been tabbed to get the Halabi Foundation name out there, raise money and accomplish the mission.

Kids will be able to learn music, painting, carving and whatever art from they chose to channel their negative emotions. Trainers and experts will be in charge and running the show. Dana has already released a promo song for the foundation. There are tons of children in that music video talking about life. Still Dana is still Dana and she did her thing.

I did not spot any children in the kickoff, I only saw people who wanted to drink and have a good time.

Video: When Justin Bieber Pukes On Stage

It's really hard to see this video and want to share it. Justin is a good guy and like all of us has the occasional upset stomach. Trouble is, he is always on someone's camera. You may not like his music, but at the end of the day he has his fans out there and they care for him. I did not appreciate the many comments on I found reacting this video.

The video below is from a performance in Arizona — while his backing track continued to play. According to Digital Spy, the brief clip captures the pop star turning his back to the audience in the middle of the song “Out Of Town Girl” as he vomited, then for few seconds he exited the stage before returning shortly after to resume the show. Way to be a stand up guy, he is a grownup man already. Most would have canceled on the fans, but not Justin.

Once again the Bieb is a class act, he apologize about the audience  “It’s hard for me, you know, not feeling great and throwing up in front of a bunch of people,” he told the audience. He is a solid entertainer and this is not a big deal--it happens to the best of us.

All The Boys Love Themselves Some Sandy

Sandy is an entertainer and she has done well with that limited vocal strength she has. But what she lacks in voice  she compensates for with her dazzling looks, chic outfits and loving fans. Sandy was unafraid to show off some skin as she performed her pop songs live and on camera.

Sandy broke the mold in Egypt, she rocked the mini shorts look on her music video, she sang girly pop songs about the cute boys. She did with Katy Perry does, colors, styles and ever changing image. While Sandy has toned it down a bit--she has found a middle ground where she can be sexy without being sleazy. Sandy did Egyptian pop a favor, when Lebanese pop was going full sexy mode, the Egyptian one could not keep up. Along came Sandy who claimed herself a spot with the boys who have found themselves a bold star from among them.

She established her brand in Egypt, then she moved to the Gulf with her single--it was pretty good. Then she expanded into a bigger market by doing the song below with Karl Wolf whom I am impressed by. But before that she did the nerdy look music video to tell people, I still can get views not playing an eye candy and she did.

Pictures: Orange Arab Celebrities Tan Screw-ups

Egyptian songstress Soma had a recent concert in one of Egypt's hottest shopping malls--Sun City. The concert was part of the the shopping festival where big Arab names appear and sing for the thousands of mall goers who only have to be there--it's up to the mall then to sell them something.

Enough with that, Soma has a very exciting voice and a talent that helps her shape her voice to do happy and sad songs with the proper emotional strength. Take it from me, she can rock. But I am taking issue with is her tan that make her look like an orange. Soma performed for about an hour and the fans wanted more.

Not sure where Soma got the orange spray or a tanning bed. It's also possible that she has been on the beach for ages, but knowing my Arabs--we fear the freaking sun. I think it was a makeup misstep that left the songstress looking like an orange with a face.

One Direction Nails It With "Live While We're Young"

When you are young, you do not realize this, you only want to be a grown up and have your own things. But not One Direction who are back with a new single. "Live While We're Young" is the tittle of their latest single and it's scheduled to be released in the U.K. on Sept. 30.

This is not a single, it's a motto for this sugar pop band that has rocked the music industry as well as the world of many teenagers around the world. "Live While We're Young" will be the first track off their second album, and the guys are very pleased with the song and the message.

The five-member British have captured limelight since its debut album, "Up All Night," became a No. 1 worldwide smash earlier this year. Concerts, tours and media appearances do not stop the guys form enjoying life while under the influence of Youthfulness. They work hard but they seem not to take anything too seriously--except the fans I hope.

The song has been crafted by “What Makes You Beautiful” top-notch team Savan Kotecha, Rami Yacoub and Carl Falk, the single follows exact the same sunny pop-rock style as the group’s first album. The only real difference is that now the boys are singing about indulging.

Louis Tomlinson says: "If we go out on a night out and we're a little bit drunk, it's not obviously going to be a great picture, but it's not too bad. The fact is we're young; everyone who is our age is going out anyway." This is yet another happy music video about enjoying life and no one has more to look forward to than One direction and the band-mates.

Cyrine Abdelnour Gets Into The Lingerie Business

I give credit to the Gulf based Arab lingerie company for doing something people wanted. Start a bosh lingerie and sleepwear company, built its brand and always be on the media by hiring new stars to promote your brand. Among the Arab ladies who have singed up and endorsed the products are Diana Haddad, Yara, Razan Al Moghraby, and now Cyrine Abdelnour.

This is how you build a brand, you make a good product, you put on a show and pick beloved entertainers to make your product seem high end. The Dubai based company is doing something right, I think picking Cyrine Abdelnour is a clever move, she is on top of her game her TV drama "Ruby" was a massive hit. Her music career is about to see a surge. She is likable.

Nayomi is thriving in a conservative society that has a guilty pleasure of all things intimate. The CEO is doing his job by increasing the brand awareness without getting in fights with conservative voices. They only showcases the sleepwear not that other stuff. The brand has expanded into selling perfumes and lotions.

Director Bassam AlTurk Creepy Arab Lovers Music Video Due Soon

Stalking is never cool, breaking into someone's home is not a good idea. But for Arab music videos anything goes. So here's the plot for a new romantic and supposed to be humorous music videos. Boy and girl spot one another and fall in love from afar. They are both interested in knowing one another, but instead of talking to one another, they both engage in creepy and illegal activities.

The girl takes a group of her friends, break into that good looking guys home to learn things about him. As they search around the apartment, she finds pictures of herself--the guy has been photographing her all along. Instead of freaking out, she laughs and thinks it's cute.

He goes home and finds his house a mess, trips over and breaks his leg. This is what passes for romance according to one Lebanese music video director, Bassam Al Turk. They hired Mr. Lebanon 2012 to be the model who stalks people and breaks his leg. This is the plot for Mashael's new music video. Mashael is a Lebanese singer who grew up in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

This is a dangerous music video, it violates people's rights. Both of those lovers are wrong and I hope people do not copy their style and start talking, spying on people. It's not cool to take pictures of people without their permission. Bassma, you are a good man, do you want strangers (good looking or bad looking taking pictures of your sister of your daughter?)

I am almost certain as far as art direction and colors this music video will be amazing. I love how Bassam works with color themes and brings the best in any given star. The pictures and outfits from the music video are brilliant.

I do think they should add a warning before the music videos plays.

The Voice Is A Stink Bomb! Where Are Those Viewers

The Arab edition of The Voice has the star power, and has the backing of the big network. What they do not have is the audience. I am a follower of Arab media on entertainment and have neither found stories about the show--they aired about three episodes and no one is talking. The social networks are not abuzz about this supposedly hot show.

Here's why, there seems to be saturation of such shows. We have already Star Academy, Arabs Got Talent, And Arab Idol and now comes the Voice the latest additions in such singing competition. Plus one of the lead mentors is a guy who does not talk much about himself and does not speak to the media. the two others come with expiration date, and one lady has a lot of personal drama.

I like them as singers, but I am not sensing there is enough drama to get people to tune in. I think people might tune in later, but not now. something big has to happen for vierwrs to watch, the more viewers, the more the cash for the advertisers.

"Secrets" Of Tamer Hosny And Bassma Boussil's Wedding

Tamer Hosny have never had a problem where he keeps away form the spotlight. He has spoken about everything and has not done the same thing with his marriage. When he doesn't talk, other media outlets do the talking and spread some information that might be incorrect. I think the bride deserves a huge wedding and those fans of Tamer Hosny need to see some tangible proof. Who's up for a party?

Here are some behind the senes info nuggets about Tamer Hosny's wedding of the decade:

  1. They both wad in Tamer Hosny's private Villa in Al Ahram Gardens. It was conducted according to Islamic laws. Only four people have witnessed the private ceremony.
  2. They have fallen in love two years prior to the wedding. Bassma was studying medicine and at first her family opposed the wedding.
  3. Tamer Hosny has met Bassma in Morocco where he had many concerts. He found her to be close to his personality. He has fallen in love and his friends were surprised how easy it was. Tamer Hosny has said in the past that he won't marry someone form the entertainment industry.
  4. The wedding was kept secret by both families for three months. Until Bassma went to the States with her husband to be with him for a month and a half as he toured the country and recorded new songs. Rumors started to surface.
  5. She is in her early twenties and he is in his late thirties.
  6. Tamer wanted her to have  a career in the music industry, she recorded an album under the supervision of Tamer Hosny's producer Mohsin Jaber. But before the release of the album, Tamer Hosny announced the wedding to the public.
  7. They both had filmed a music video together that was marketed heavily with promos. The couple seemed to be in love. The music video have to see the light of day. Tamer Hosny is keeping it under close watch. Tamer might be doing the right thing in the eyes of some people.
  8. We have found out about this wedding on the same day pop star Mohamed Hamaki released his much anticipated 2012 album.
  9. We wish Tamer Hosny and Bassma Boussil well. I think we all have an obligation to make sure this relationship is a successful one.

Video: Myraim Faris Makes Love To Saudi Arabia

The good people of Saudi Arabia loves all things Lebanon. Nothing they love more than a Lebanese girl who wants to celebrate a Saudi Holiday with them. Lebanese songstress Myraim Faris knows that and she realizes she must have millions of fans in Saudi Arabia, so she wanted to make them feel special.

She wore the colors of their flag and wished them a happy Independence Day via her Facebook account. She also added a button where she says "I Love KSA", that's short for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Myraim Faris had already made them an all Gulf dialect album. This is a video for one of her private concerts in Saudi Arabia where she seems to have unleashed her dance.

I do know that the good people of Saudi Arabia have special place in their hearts for Myraim, her dance moves and her exotic outfits. While I admire the gesture, would Myraim do the same thing for Somalia, Sudan or any other county that does not have cash?
