WATCH: Sugar Pop And Oral Fixation Music Video

I know guys are idiots, otherwise we won't have to see music video like the one below. Something about women and candy makes guys lose their minds. We had Maria start up the fad in 2005, but in 2010 another young lady used lollipops as props for her music video. Neither of those ladies is seven years old.

Michaella is her name and there's about a mile between her and being called talented. That does not make her a bad person. Her song is about a guy who tells her buddies she is all over him and she is crazy about him. She has to put him on his place.

Trouble, the dude looks like a turd bag and he seems older than Michaella. Not sure where the songstress career stands at the moment and it remains a mystery if she regrets this music video. One thing Michaella did here, she went for cute and not sexy. She has to be given credit for that at least.

Nancy Ajram Should Keep Away From Arab Idol

To be on TV on weekly audience is not a job for the weak in heart, nor is it for those who are busy with a lovely family and a super impressive music career. Nancy is a successful lady, a lovable person and a sweet spirit. She will most certainly be a great addition to the show and she will get the flocks of viewers too.

It will started with a tweet from super star and classy singer Ragheb Alama who has tweeted in Arabic the following "A little birdie told me, there's a possibly Nancy Ajram might be one of the judges on Arab Idol Season 2, this is good news for me and certainly for you too" Nancy did not comment but she re-tweeted the Ragheb tweet.

Let's look at this, Nancy is already over stretched with her music career bringing her media appearances in Lebanon, Egypt and the Gulf. She has two little girls who love their mommy and a committed husband. Together they make and they are sweet family, the Arab Idol will require too much time, and it will over expose the songstress on TV. She will be in every house for the duration of the season.

She will get the media coverage, and she will always be on the news as long as she is on this show, so there might be an overload for Nancy Ajram from the listener point of view. I would check with the other singers and see how has this affected their careers and their lives as well.

It might rub some people the wrong way and it might allow people to stare at her soul in the face as every comment and gesture she makes will be recorded and analyzed at home. I do not know if Nancy Ajram is up to that. She is one of those talented singers who have done literary everything right. She has the career many around the world can only dream of; the family that one prays for and the love of the masses--young and old.

I would like to see her on TV, but as a business decision it might be a risky one. Either way the audience wins.

I Love Wael Jassar, But This Epic Song Disappoints

Ok, it might not suck, but it's not exactly great. Wael Jassar promised a second to none poem song like he has never done before. The guy is a master of emotional songs. I really wanted a great song worthy of this Lebanese hit-maker with a hear of gold.

The song is alright, it feels missing something. The lyrics have been written by Sahli AbdulKarim, a song about a guy who wants his lady to confess her love to him. He just wanted to make sure she is in for it. It's a romantic songs that forces you to really listen in. It reads like a Nizar Qabany poem, but it's not. The music is good in some parts, but my main take is on Wael's performance. I feel he was not all into the song.

You may have liked it, but poem songs are not supposed to be average. He does sound sweet, but her vocal skills are not at their prime.

Nawal El Zoghbi Is Doing The Madonna Thing

Crazy dancers, people jumping all over the stage, live audience who has gone wild and fireworks seem to be an old trick from the pop stars of the world. The trick seems to work well. In a summer concert appearance Lebanese pop candy Nawal El Zoghbi filmed her performance and captured few minutes from a night that will turn into a music video.

The slideshow seems to help as well. I do not think the music matches the lyrics of the song and the back dancers seem not to be in sync with the song or the starlet. I do not think this song should have been filmed and this is spoken like a fan of Nawal's. She still has so much to give and she at least has a half a dozen of pop albums in her.

ARAB Hipsters: Ahmed Moawad - Gebt Akhry / أحمد معوض - جبت أخري

I just saw a music video that features Arab hipsters, these guys got the outfits right. They have figures the look and the attitude the hipsters of the world have build for themselves. The song is not a hit, it's a bit weak for my own taste. I think they get A for effort.

The song lacks the good beat and the powerful tunes. I am not a fan, but I like the music video concept, and that Ahmed looked the part. Not sure what role the girl in those short shorts doing and why the car is there, but I am sure if you are 16 years old you will understand.

Yehya Radwan: Horses, Bikes and Cheating Ladies

Horses are awesome creators, they are mighty, gracious and proud. No wonder celebrities and rich people like to be seen with horses. Horse racing is an activity seems reserved for the rich and powerful. Yehya Radwan, a pop singer from Lebanon uses a horse for his music video--he was riding one showing off his skills.

Then he is walking around with a girl young enough to be his daughter--except she might be meant to be his lover, they are walking around a gorgeous villa. And now we see he also likes bikes- This guy likes riding things. And the girl you see in the music video she cheats on hims with the guy who attends to his ranch.

Dude, Yehya love someone your own age not something young enough to be your daughter.

Aside From Her Fake Egyptian Accent, Mais Hamdan Is Cool

Mais Hamdan is a funny gal who does a great job hosting a number of shows in Egyptian TV. She has moved over to acting, and she seems to have song alright in that. But I never thought she should be singing, I do not like her performance and I think her vocals are not that strong.

Having said that, there's a sweet hint in her voice, so it's not all bad. Checkout her new single song, a song she recorded for a show where she is also starring. A drama about living in upper Egypt in the country side. Mais does a very fine job in impersonating singer, she has even upset some of them

Mais grew up in Jordan, so for her to try to speak with an Egyptian accent is a bit laughable. She has offended Egyptians few Ramadans ago when she told a joke that pissed off some people. Anyhow she is still in business as you can tell by this song. Mais will also appear not in one TV dramas, but in three this Ramadan.

Hell Team Has A Message To The Egyptian President

Hell Team is one hell of rap team. This is an underground rap band that is breaking out with message to the youth of Egypt and most recently to the new president of Egypt--President Morsi. This is a bold track with a lot of heart and sober messages I wish more people would adopt that kind of tone.

The rap goes, I might not have chose you, I may not have voted for you, but I ask you to impalement your promises of reform and your plan to bring the country back. Hell Team is a band made out of young Egyptian rappers who have a lot of rage and frustration to channel. The band members are as follows  H-DEVIL / Sir Medo / Mc Amgad / Hell Man

Per their Facebook
The Team Started in 2008 Which produced the first album in 2009 entitled "T7ya Masr"And then start working with the public reactionThe team is now processing the next albumWe hope you like it
They list Eminem and Tupac among their musical influenced. As far as raps goes, Hell Team does have all the right tools to this game. They have also manged to score some poetic lyrics. Next bit step is to go mainstream by getting booked on a music network. They can claim they speak for the youth in the streets of Egypt, this would sell big in the West.

Rawad Saab Is Looking For A Wife And He Needs Your Help

Rawad likes brand names, he is driving a Mercedes, wearing cool trendy gear, all to declare his intentions. He wants to get married and he is asking you folks to introduce him to her. He wants a sweet girl whom his parents would approve of. He does not have many pictures of his floating around the net--he should look into that.

Good manners, good looks, you gotta go with the Lebanese Rawad sings. Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Morocco all get a shout out in the song. Then the Arab Gulf gets its shout out too. Just marry an Arab girl that's the song if you could not find the Lebanese one It's a clever song to break into the show business. Arabs are suckers for such songs.

Rawad is a young and good looking lad, he would not find it hard to find a lady.

OMG: Amr 60 - Agmal Haga / عمرو ستين - اجمل حاجه

You must be a badass if you think you can make it in the pop business with a name like Amr 60--it's cool I give you that. There are a million Amrs out there, this one is cool enough to rock the white tee and jeans by the harbor. He does have a rocking debut music video and he does like sailing around with his lady friend.

He has the Arab dude look, and that means he likes to be seen with blondes to his side. He does have a pleasant voice, and a likable personality that does not feel rigid. As far as fame, Amr 60 has just came out of the woods, he has no footprint yet. The next knows nothing about this young charming pop star to be.

Marwa Nasr Post Marriage Song "Beit Wahed" / مروة نصر - بيت واحد

Marwa Nasr has gotten married to some music producer, and they had a big bash and they never said they were getting married...they invited folks over for an engagement party and then the wedding started. Her latest single is meant to tell us all that she has gotten what she has thought and prayed about.

Put that aside for a second, and now she is ready to tell you about the moment they have become one and have moved into the same place together---hopefully forever. I liked Marwa few years ago, and I think her voice is entertaining, she might be a one note vocalist. She has a comfort zone.

The ladies and the confused males would love this song, your average Moe might not relate too it....so we are getting married he says! The song is about dreaming about Mr. right, Marwa has a lot to say about that, she did hire a model to fill in for her husband.

Listen: Amr Diab - Fi Haga Feek عمرو دياب - في حاجة فيك

Pop Star's celebrated king Amr Diab does it again, he shared a new single of his. He released it on the day of Eid and made it out to all his fans. You get the guitar, the upbeat house mix, and Amr Diab.

This is throwaways song, that means, the song is not going to recycle for years, it';s a good song not a great one. One cool thing about it, Amr Diab made the music himself--something he does not do often enough.

The timing of the song comes few days before Amr's mega concert in Cairo at the Hockey Stadium. Such releases help the rally up the fan for this concert.

Do You Like This Mais Hamdan Song? Because I Don't

Multi talented Mais Hamdan has a drama on TV about living in the deep Egyptian south or upper Egypt as it has been really known. Then they asked her to do thre show's open credit song, and she cannot say no to that. I happen not to find this song any good, and I happen to think that Mais does not have the vocal strength or ability to pull any song.

I know she acts and presents TV shows, her sister Mai is the singer, I think each should stick to his craft. Why am I so mean? This is a song that should be only performed by someone who has lived an Egyptian childhood in those parts of the world, not someone who is there just for the money.

Mohamed Metwaly, A HOT Young Pop Singer

I do not know if something caused me to lose my apatite for bland pop, but I do not feel that average songs cut it anymore. Cookie cutter songs are everywhere and house music seems to have won over all other genera of music. This is too bad because, most young singers come with new albums where at least 60 percent of their songs are made for the clubs.

This is strange, as European music seems to have gained fellowship in Arabia. But frankly, I have to admit that I like the vocal material of this new singer Mohamed Metwaly. Unlike many in his age group, the guy knows how to carry a song. He can get you to dance, and he can get your groove back to action.

He does have that voice that resembles the style of a younger Amr Diab. I think his songs will get the attention of the young, both men and women as his voice can be dreamy. I do like his manly style where he is singing about events, not people.

The album will be released soon, I will be happy to give it a listen.

What;s Up With Those Motorcycles Bassel Eid?

Abbouta is not a real word, and that's a warning sing from Lebanese young singer with the name Bassel Eid. The song offers no complex vocal showcase. It's a bland song with a music video that has bikes and on a beach.

I like that Bassel has brought some jeans for the clip and brought a lot of dudes for the filming. He is schooling his girl in the many ways he thinks she needs him and most of his lines end with the rhym outa. Not everyone loves this song in Beruit, but it's a silly song with a catchy beat.

The song sounds like a hit with teenagers who have never spoken to a girl in their young years. I know some out there have called it a song for children. Sure the beat has its moments. The singer loses me when he speaks about women freedom.

Kaoutar Nihad "Nta Li Bghit" Arabs In New York

UPDATED:

Morocco is the country of a million singer and dancer, if you have been watching the entertainment channel of course. In fairness, most of the entertainers who come form Morocco are extremely talented. There's a certain energy singers from Morocco bring, they seem to be very educated and have hail from a great tradition.

A singer who I have yet to decide on is called Kaouthar Nihad, she is out with a new album she was singing in Rotana cafe in Morocco. The music video for her song was filmed mostly in New York in Central Park and Time Square. The two places I know like the back of my hand. The singer is boasting about an American director who shot the music video, I think my college roommate Carlos would have done a better job filming and editing this video.

The outdoors portion is pretty cool, when they crew films indoors, the quality sucks. As for the song, I like the beat I detect a Latin/Hispanic flavor. The lyrics are very Moroccan which in the past has been an upside. The singer might have a lot more to give than she is showing.

On the plus side, this is a complete artist in the sense she knows the song through and through, music lyrics and singing. This sheer fact makes Nihad unique and light years ahead of her peers. To her credit, the song below gets better once you play it few times.

Poor Man's Sha'abi Music Gets A Girl Star!

Whoever said that females cannot compete with almost excessively all male Sh'abi music? Well, these guys are in for a treat, because Heidi Al Baroudy is about to give them a good for their money. With her all girl music video where there's dance, a balady beat and rough around the edges lyrics.

I have one bone to pick, the outfits are not at all stylish, but this might be fitting for those who listen to this kind of music as they are almost never accused of being stylish. None of the dance moves are award winning of course. So if you do not like Egyptian pop, you will not start now with this song.

I think Heidi knows her market very well, and realizes that she is one of girl in an almost all dudes business, so she has to thread carefully. I like the fact that she exists and stands in tall and proud. I may not like this style, but it's not her fault--it's the game.

Just Like Assad, Ali El Deek Won't Just Go Away

Ali El Deek made something rally cool he made folksy Syrian songs a mainstream thing throughout Arabia. There was relatively, nothing called the hip Syrian song, until Ali released his hit singles. But that was almost 8 years ago. But things have changed since then and Ali kept doing the same old beat with new lyrics.

Ali did not invent the folksy Syrian song, he only made it accessible, but as more people tuned in, less and less songs came out from this style. And soon enough most people have lost interest in this song as it started to feel tired.

And here we go again, we are in 2012 Syria is changing, but Ali has not. He has locked himself in this style and he can still do well in Syria at wedding and other local functions, but I do not see him do not a music festival. I do think his title is creative the youth will appreciate it.

With Reham Helmy, Egyptian Pop Keeps Trying

Good pop songs are not easy to make, a decent pop song has to be happy with upbeat music and clever and catchy lyrics. Throwaway pop ain't hard to make, just ask Egyptian pop star Reham Helmy, the new fame of girly pop. Reham has made a song for the ladies and girls out there, they would relate to it and better understand it.

Guys do not have much emotions or at least try not to understand things women talk about. For those, here's the song by Rehamd Helmy to give them a taste of what goes inside the mind of one girl. She just made a not so whiny song, that heart and a fine music. Vocally, I think Reham can do better as she is not letting herself break free in that department.

Salah Kurdi And The Sexy Piano Moment

Wael Jassar, Fadel Shaker, Saad Ramadan Saber El Robaei, Reda, and a dozen other Lebanese singers do the same song that Salah Kurdi just released about the places where he used to frequent with now his ex. The lyrcis are good and the Lebanese dialect works for this song.

He is talking about the past and his regrets...he is the one left alone. We need to get a new mantra in the Arab world, there's always another fish in the sea, so stop the whinging and get out there. The song won;t fix anything, in reality it might make you feel worse of.

I do not think this is a music video that will win awards. It was filmed here in the states (Flordia and New Yorkj) As a vocal performance, Salah Kurdi has all the right tools. He is an accomplished composer who is dabbling into singing after his work has made many famous. Elissa, Adam, Saber El Robaei, Ayman Zabib and Saad Ramadan have all taken songs from Salah.
