Dance Away With Zen Master Yahia Sweis New Single

Yahia Sweis is a passionate young man, but the father of the girl he loves can kick his butt. Yahia loves the girl from next door where their both houses are separated by a wall--he wants to tear down that wall. So Yahia makes a proposition  let me marry your daughter in accordance with the religious traditions off course.

At least this is how his new single goes. Yahia is a spirited singer from Jordan, he did appear on Star Academy three years ago. I think he has a winner song here and it has the wild appeal to most Arabs. The beat will be welcome in Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. The lyrics are dripping passion, Yahia looks the part. This is a song that will be welcomed by the young and the old. The young will like the upbeat style, the old will cheer the traditional style.

Yahia is well composed guy, a very quite personalty, and a student of Computer sciences. His song Karmal 'Ayonik will be a great calling card for concerts and othber parties. Great Job Yahia, you have made a great choice here.

Toni Qattan Coffee And Traditional Arab Marriages

Toni Qattan might be this summer's biggest music surprise, he has seen so many music festivals and traveled across the Arab world including Palestine for concerts. He is a big deal in Jordan and Lebanon too. But his latest single which I did not love at first is shown that the guy is a hit-maker.

Using the Bedouin dialect to tell of the marriage tradition when a family asks for the hand of a young lady into marriage to one of their boys. They have to serve coffee and let the elders talk about this union. The song turned out to be a hit and embraced by both ladies and men alike. It's a happy song about a wedding season. Toni did well with the song and he has performing it all summer long.

Ahat " Woes" Band Making Rap Cool Again

Ready for yet another indie band making its mark on the music scene? These guys want to rap and their rap is political...they come from the land of Jordan and their tracks are telling tales of the Arab stories from the Spring and before. They are just starting out, so their voice has not been tweaked yet.

I think these guys have plenty to rage about, they band is made-up of three dudes and one lady--Meera. Some rap, some find beats, other composes and one takes pictures. Learn more about this band that states they have been around since 2008. The lead rapper is Yasir Haddad, Tarek Al Badri raps and takes pictures, and Ali Al Zibady beat box and music guy.

I hope in four years from now, I would come back and have a lot more to say about the rap band that made is big.... it's easy to rap, but to make it last is never easy.

Video: Asking Random Arab People To Sing Is Fun

I love people who when put on the spot, can come up with a rendition of their favorite song on camera. This is what one Arab TV attempted to do so well. They walked in the streets of Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon and asked people around the streets and in their cars to give them a sample of the songs they like to listen to.

I was amazing by how many people agreed and did a version of of their songs. To be frank, some of these people have impressive voice, but all of them seem to be like fun people. This is a simple formula, I could tell about 80 percent of the songs.

What song would you perform?

U-Seff Raps From Jordan's Overlooked Slums

U-Seff did not rap from the void, he comes form a poor and marginalized area in Jordan--an area that's not Amman. He hates the sucker part of town. The markets where the trash is all over the streets. Corruption and no services. He might not have the strongest voice out there, but you will not miss his frustration. U-Sef is proud of his part of town, he loves it. But he thinks it can be better.

He is chocking in the inside yet he manged to smile and be happy. I love his name and how he spelled, a rather refreshing way to stand out. Full name is Yousef Qasrawi Also Known As "U-Seff Qasrawi" Aka Music Kid ( فتى الموسيقى ). He's from Palestine yet he Was Born In Romania but He currently Lives In Jordan. When he Started Rapping he wasn't that good quality production he did, but With time he got better and better.

Respect U-Seff! You rre good buddy

Samira Tawfik's Best Hit Songs Are Here

I call her the dark pearl of Lebanese songs, the lady of Lebanon's other people, the line that rocked hard and  the original mountain side vocalist, and the legendary singer who continues to inspire the career of dozens of young Lebanese singers

Samira was not the hottest girl in the room, but what she might have lacked in good looks made up for in confidence and attitude that moved generations. Samira did not have a chance in making it in her home, so she made a habit of singing in Jordan and Syria where she has made a huge name for herself and then came back home and was treated as an iconic lady. Then she made movies too and did well then. Her first songs were recorded in Jordan using the Jordanian Bedouin style

Her career took her to all those fine places where the Lebanese expats live (In Australia she performed in front of Queen Elizabeth, in Mexico she performed too, in Venezuela she performed and was given an ward by the Parliament, she has also performed in France, London and Africa)

Samira is still alive with us, living at home but struggling with a number of health issues that come with age. She has made a lot of people happy and for that the people are grateful. A collection of her best and most famous songs is below

Toni Qattan, The Guy Who Keeps Jordan Interesting

Few years ago, Jordan almost lost one of its youngest and brightest pop stars, Tony Qattan who was struggling with some serious health issues at the time. Two years later, he is back with force being the live of the party at Amman and Palestine biggest summer music festivals. We have shared his videos in Palestine this summer, and now comes his videos form his Amman concerts.

I like Tony he seems like a natural at this and he has always shown that he can keep the fans pleased with his varying style in between romance and folklore songs. He seems to be one of those happy people who you can tell if he is smiling--he seems to pull that one off very well.

Enjoy his own song and hgis cover of Jordan's most popular song Ya Saad. Not to mention Toni's good looks and high sense of style

Aside From Her Fake Egyptian Accent, Mais Hamdan Is Cool

Mais Hamdan is a funny gal who does a great job hosting a number of shows in Egyptian TV. She has moved over to acting, and she seems to have song alright in that. But I never thought she should be singing, I do not like her performance and I think her vocals are not that strong.

Having said that, there's a sweet hint in her voice, so it's not all bad. Checkout her new single song, a song she recorded for a show where she is also starring. A drama about living in upper Egypt in the country side. Mais does a very fine job in impersonating singer, she has even upset some of them

Mais grew up in Jordan, so for her to try to speak with an Egyptian accent is a bit laughable. She has offended Egyptians few Ramadans ago when she told a joke that pissed off some people. Anyhow she is still in business as you can tell by this song. Mais will also appear not in one TV dramas, but in three this Ramadan.

Rawad Saab Is Looking For A Wife And He Needs Your Help

Rawad likes brand names, he is driving a Mercedes, wearing cool trendy gear, all to declare his intentions. He wants to get married and he is asking you folks to introduce him to her. He wants a sweet girl whom his parents would approve of. He does not have many pictures of his floating around the net--he should look into that.

Good manners, good looks, you gotta go with the Lebanese Rawad sings. Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Morocco all get a shout out in the song. Then the Arab Gulf gets its shout out too. Just marry an Arab girl that's the song if you could not find the Lebanese one It's a clever song to break into the show business. Arabs are suckers for such songs.

Rawad is a young and good looking lad, he would not find it hard to find a lady.

Sara VS Nasser ساره و ناصر Rap VS Pop

Duets can be often off the cob which to say they are corny. Part of making a duet is showing that you believe and if you have to put an act, you should not hesitate.

Here's a music video that will not have you think corny. A Jordanian rapper who appeared on Star Academy wears customs and peacocks as he tries to stand out from the pack. She is young and mature, she is also Egyptian or sounds like one. A grownup girl gets to meet the childish dude, this ought to be fun to watch

The clip is made by a guy who watched a lot of blockbuster movies. Spider-man, Batman, 300, the Matrix, X-Men and sponge Bob. Why is Nasser shouting and getting worked up so bad? There is some cute battling between pop and rap. I like Nasser walking around in his underwear showing off his guns. Watch any giggle

Do You Like This Mais Hamdan Song? Because I Don't

Multi talented Mais Hamdan has a drama on TV about living in the deep Egyptian south or upper Egypt as it has been really known. Then they asked her to do thre show's open credit song, and she cannot say no to that. I happen not to find this song any good, and I happen to think that Mais does not have the vocal strength or ability to pull any song.

I know she acts and presents TV shows, her sister Mai is the singer, I think each should stick to his craft. Why am I so mean? This is a song that should be only performed by someone who has lived an Egyptian childhood in those parts of the world, not someone who is there just for the money.

Syrian Mohammad Bash Marks Ramadan With Smiley Album

The young and plenty handsome Syrian composer singer who appeared on Star Academy's sixth season in 2009 has been making music since then. His latest a Ramadan album with a music video where he is the center and where he song celebrates being faithful.

His voice is made for romance, and his talent has impressed so many in his short career. Bash is also Jordanian for his mother side. He offers a delightful song and puts his talent on exhibit. He just seems to be too smiley to be there.

Tell me what you think....

Lian Bazlamit To Perform in Jordan Ramadan Concert

If you was wondering where has pop up and coming Lian Bazlamit has gone, worry no more. She has a concert in Amman this summer, in time for the month of Ramadan--I would have chosen the Eid time.  celebration. It seems she is the headline of a big Amman bash with three other performers in three separate concerts.

August 2, 2012 alongside Syrian pop star Samer Cairo
August 9, 2012 alongside Lebanese heartthrob Josef Attieh

The venue is at a place well know in Amman, Action Target is bringing the young songstress, Lian is set to perform in all concerts. I am sure her fans cannot wait to see their starlet who is making a good use of her summer.

Soltan Zamany - Khaled El Taib سلطان زمانى - خالد الطيب

Funky songs are back with Khaled El Taib new single. I ADORE the music for the clip, but I am not too crazy about the music video filmed in some mall in Jordan and parking lot. I look the trendy singer whose funk look and movements make him the one to keep an eye on.

I do like the flow and the beat, and the simplistic lyrics. It's hard to fake cool, so I think Khalid has made it look easy. I also like the title of his song....the Sultan of my time! I like happy, funky songs when they are well made, and I think we have one here.

Tony Qattan 2012 Song About Stupid Old Arabs

The cool thing, if a group or a delegation of old Arab men comes to any given home, and refuse to drink the coffee served until their request has been honored. Most if not all people accept such offer because of the hospitality tradition rooted in the desert culture. So when a family wants to ask the hand of a woman in marriage they send the old and respectable men in the family to do the asking.

This is cool, but what if the woman says no? Will those old men go back and eat their word? so here's a scenario....they host family says, sure whatever you ask we will give you. These guests ask for the girl's hand in marriage. She might say no! While most will honor her wish, and go back on their word--this is something Islam is keen on by the way. But then the families might want to get the girl to change her mind.

Lecture aside, here's a song about the very same story, but Jordanian Palestinian singer Tony Qattan where he says "your coffee will be drunk!" And the girl will be your girl now, so congratulation. This is a happy song and shows that the singer is well raised and knows the tradition well. My thing is this, old men do not always know the right things....they are only assumed to have such knowledge.

As for this song I like the beat and the energy is brings. And yes the cool old school instruments incorporated.

Mad props to Torabyeh for writing out the Arabic lyrics and the English translation themselves!

Rasasah (Verse 1)
My status is deformed because of my art
My poetry for my people is meaningless
My departure from earth is only a matter of time
The good I do on earth is not to gain blessings from the heavens
I just want a place where I can secure my son’s rights
I am not a killer but I can commit a crime to protect my rights
For my country my pen is writing for me
I don’t want an Israeli soldier to stop me from being buried in my country
I want to be buried in the same graveyard my grandfather is in
Ever since I was young I dreamt of being a soldier
With time I discovered whom I belong to
Mahmoud Abbas, Fatah, Hamas or Jabha
Let me be free because they are all mercenaries
I can no longer deal with these people living a lie
The picture is nice but the background is destroyed
Now we need a visa to enter our own country?
It seems the people are distracted with the revolutions
They forgot Iraq and they forgot Shatila & Sabra
I refuse to be some regular human being
And what’s available in Amman in its best cases is bare
So why don’t I belong to a free revolution
Where the employer and employee are the same status
Rasasah; stay calm!
How can I when all the Israelis are reserve soldiers

Hussam (CHORUS)
Could it be that we have reached to this point?
Our country needs her men, she has become a widower
It’s time to stand up
Ziad Rahbani tell them who’s the non-believer!

Kazz (Verse 1)
I am packing my things getting ready to leave
From Amman to a place with no moonlight
All desert…all alcohol…with only a few trees
So I can feed myself from you mother nature
With your fast growth …you are never satisfied
Because they are always cutting you down…I will protect you
From all of those non-believers
My grandfather had an orchard and he always protected you
But when the sons of bitches occupied the land they stole you
And my grandfather lived and died dreaming of you
Now I come to you to share my pain
Because I felt that me and you are the same
The projects in Amman are throwing us around
Mother nature hold me and return me back inside you
Because all this construction above you is adding to my pain
I wish I was a gypsy going from tent to tent
Because my place in this society has no worth
I don’t feel well, I feel like shit
We’ve been fucked a thousand times and we’re still going backwards
After what has happened and what will happen
The fate is the same; murdered or captured
I am like all of those who life threw to the gutter
Deprived from happiness and sentenced to fade away
The only difference is that I am supported by rhythm”

Hussam (CHORUS)
Could it be that we have reached to this point?
Our country needs her men, she has become a widower
It’s time to stand up
"Ziad Rahbani tell them who’s the non-believer"
