Video: Hip Song, Cool Music Video Effects

Dude can sing and he seems to have made a song in the tradition of Amr Diab. The young and charismatic singer Bassem Abd El Wahab has released a music video for one of his catchy songs. I am loving the computer effects on his video. It's really exciting and has taken some serious work and talent. And yes, he posses a sense of style worthy of the finest rapper.

The song does not disappoint, I do like the nerdy looking model that appeared alongside Bassem. Some might have opinions about the FBI tee and the shades he is wearing. The song is pretty hot and it's not the summer yet. I think the electronic and funky music is something we do not hear much of in Arab pop, but it's making a comeback.

Dance Away With Zen Master Yahia Sweis New Single

Yahia Sweis is a passionate young man, but the father of the girl he loves can kick his butt. Yahia loves the girl from next door where their both houses are separated by a wall--he wants to tear down that wall. So Yahia makes a proposition  let me marry your daughter in accordance with the religious traditions off course.

At least this is how his new single goes. Yahia is a spirited singer from Jordan, he did appear on Star Academy three years ago. I think he has a winner song here and it has the wild appeal to most Arabs. The beat will be welcome in Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. The lyrics are dripping passion, Yahia looks the part. This is a song that will be welcomed by the young and the old. The young will like the upbeat style, the old will cheer the traditional style.

Yahia is well composed guy, a very quite personalty, and a student of Computer sciences. His song Karmal 'Ayonik will be a great calling card for concerts and othber parties. Great Job Yahia, you have made a great choice here.

Mohamed Nabil The Sound That We Already Have

Some Egyptian pop sounds like car horns, that's one of the reasons most people who do not speak Arabic really hate Egyptian pop according to study done by an American economist. Here's a song by the voice of someone who has been dubbed the new voice his name is Mohammed Nabil.

The song is presented by Team Hamid Shari who has been creating pop stars since the 80 through his work in music production and arrangements. The song does not sound fresh and neither does the voice of Mr. Nabil. But in itself the song is not a terrible one for those who are already familiar with Egyptian pop.

Nabil sounds like Ehab Tawfik spot one....

Listen: اغنية كارمن سليمان خايفة/Carmen Soliman-Khayfa

Carmen is one bold chick! She is the only young star who is comfortable releasing songs with no music. Most new singers are often intimidated, and seek to package their voice with music. Carmen needs none of that, most of her songs online and on TV shows she performs without music.

To be clear, she is not against music, she just knows that she has that voice and her confidence shows. She is the title winner of Arab Idol. She has just released a fresh track--from one of her many media appearances. "Afraid" is a song about women fear of the uncertainty of the future. Carmen is magician, I love her voice and sincere emotions.

Make no mistake about it, this is how a perfect voice should sound, it needs not to hide behind fancy computer affects.

Johnny "Metro" Keep On Making Them Hits

The guy sounds like an indie heart who cares about what he sees around him. His latest is a duet with a young lady where they are asking their listeners to befriend their trouble and sadness. This is a song that might be weird outside the Middle East--but in Arabic and in poetry they likes images, they pretend that anything that bothers them or pleases them is a person and then they can talk to that person.

I know this is strange, but it works and if done right it conveys great messages, and yes sometimes it can be cheesy. His label placed a huge investment in him and hope it translates to sales

His upcoming album Metro will feature a number of songs that sounds like they speak to the ones that has not been spoken to before. Johnny is a guy I am ready to like and have already wrote about few times on this blog.

Listen: Mohammad Ramadan Sad Yet Dancy Single

Mohammad Ramadan knew it's the right time to release his single, a sad song with a happy beat. He has learned his lesson. He has found it hard to to fall in love, but it's really hard to release a single without the backing of a sponsor like that radio that released the song on its airwaves.

This is a good song, different that his sadder songs where he gets in touch with his soft side and makes people tear up. He still keeps that broken down personality, but the music is a bit happier and invites dance. It's like those moments when you know the one you live is made at you in their mind, but they are not showing or talking. This is not easy....I know this.

I like the fusion of music.

LIVE: Salallah Oman Reunites Carmin and Donya

They competed against one another for the title of Arab Idol, but TV makes it seem much worse than it really is. They seem to be the best of friends. In Salallah's Music Festival the two young ladies took on the stage and performed an AMAZING live performance, a cover of one of the most popular oldies in that part of the world.

People out there, like pop, but they do not go to concerts to dance, they go there to be amused with real music, old school Arabic music where poetry, original music and live entertainers all come together to give a nice sit down concert.

Both of Carmin Soliman (Egypt) and Donya Batma (Morocco) appeared next to one another for this concert. I wish the audio was better for their song together. They are both young--under 20 years of age. They have become stars in a really tough time, their next move is important.

On a side note, Oman went out for this dazzling stage, I did not think they cared much for details, but it seems they have given themselves a great music festival that can rival ones in places that has had concerts for decades now.

Shady El Ghitany Joins The Ramadan Fray

He dubs himself a new star for a new generation, that's Shady El Ghitany, a young composer from Egypt with the hair of a rock star. He just released a supplication track about how God reveals himself through his most simple of his creatures. He composed the song and performed it too.

The song is about his plea to be along with prophet Mohammad in judgment day. It's a good song and Shady sounds pretty good at such songs--I am certain he can do romance songs too. I like the emotional flow of the track.

Dina El Wedidi: This Indie Is Better Than Yours

This 2008 track was composed by Dina El Wedidi and released this indie performer unto Egypt. Dina is possibly one of the brightest female indie vocalists who keeps in the music scene talking in Egypt at the moment. She started with cover of of 1920 songs and went on to perform Sheikh Imam songs and tales that most Egyptians have memorized as they are part of the folklore.

She started her music career at an early age, but Dina fine-tuned her talent, and sharpened her music saw when she participated in many musical workshops and training with the award-winning Grammy Award, Fathy Salama and other independent bands in Egypt and beyond.

Thus Dina now has found her voice and style as she has been introduced to different genres and enriched her musical culture. She, also, learned playing on Arghoul ( a cool and classy traditional Egyptian instrument).

On 2008, Dina composed her first piece for her song El Haram, and since then, she composes music for lyrics that inspire her to be sung by her or others, however, she is not presenting herself as a music composer yet trying to focus on her singing. Yes, it's tough to claim you are a composer in the presence of many great names, but that does not mean she is out.

Ahmed Ezzat Turn 23! Thanks I Feel So Old Now

The guy who everyone seems to love has turned 23 years old. Ahmed Ezzat is a young popular singer with three singles to his name. He was the runner up for Star Academy. His fans put together a video for him and he had a concert where few of his friends showed up and celebrated with the young singer.

The surprise was for Ahmed as his friend Lian Bazlmit emerged on the stage as he sang in his concert. It was a nice surprise. Ahmed who wore skinny jeans to the concert rocked the party. They had a huge yellow cake for the birthday party and they all sang Happy Birthday Mido!

Ahmed has a bright future ahead of him, the warmth of his voice and his personality makeup a major attraction for the young star.

Well, happy birthday Ahmed, you make me feel so old now.

Mohammed Dakdouk Music Video On Car Racing And Death

Mohammed Dakdouk looks like a guy who likes sports and likes a god song. He is starting his career and really wants people to tune in. A good song is nothing if it does not catch the attention of people. So for his music video he told a true story that happened in 2001. One minute you are young and unstoppable, the second you are gone and the ambulance is trying to rescue you from some acts that can be later viewed as stupid.

I do not like the talk in the cellphone as one sings--talking in your cellphone implies you are busy. If you are busy drop the filming until you are done. It's not cool anymore. It's a good song it might register with some people out there who like the singer from his days at the Star Academy season 8. The singer also wrote and composed the music

Dakdouk likes cars and he seems to be talking to them as he has missed his loved one who is now gone. I have never got into the racing business. Fast cars do not seem sexy to me, I know many in Saudi Arabia are now dealing with deaths due to accidents and racing activities that young people organizes underground.

DOWNLOAD: Metro Pop By Amr 60 In His Debut Album البوم عمرو 60 - مسافر

Amr has been on my radar for a month now and he has done a wonderful job in dazzling me and his new fans. The metro looking clean cut pop singer is really out there to get a slice of the pop pie. I compere his music to that of Hamaki...happy poo that plays like a club mix that gets excited even if the song is not that happy.

A romance pop is common--guys like to jump to the music and those young ladies like some fancy dreamy lyrics from a good looking guy. His album has been released and the new is eyeing it with a high level of anticipation. The 10 tracks album is making a worthy buzz among the people who are looking for new music.

Sherif Abd El Mon'em Living With HIS Mercy This Ramadan

Egyptians are expected to record and released Ramadan songs, they almost have exclusive rights on those songs, with the exception of Wael Jassar do not take interest in doing such songs. So the month is a good time for new singers to release supplication tracks where they can showcase their talent and their vocal ability.

Just like Sherif Abd El Mon'em who released a one and a half track just few days ago. A track about mercy and making it with the love of God and being content what he has endowed us with--and what he has not.

Sherif has the voice to make a singer, the marketing has to work out for him to be able to make another song that would be heard around town.

DOWNLOAD: Nesma Mahgoub 2012 Classy Album البوم نسمه محجوب - هتقولى ايه

In her cover picture for the album, the young and and talented Egyptian singer Nesma Mahgoub is channeling the legendary diva Asmahan. That tells me more about how the young singer views herself as an artists who can deliver you some really fine songs with her strong voice.

I like Nesma she sounds like one of those opera singers who can rock your world with their really loud voices which they manipulate so well. 12 tracks is what makes the new album, it is Tarab album all around. Classical music has finally found a young gun of Arabic music who really believes in it and want to bring it back in style.

The album is not meant for everyone out there, it's for the grownups among us, the songs are for the mature listener seeking a new thrill in music....it plays like a conversation between Nesma and her listeners. In a way this feels like reading someone else's journal telling us about their life and how they reacted to certain situations.

I am glad the producers have chosen to find this project, the album does something different with Arabic music. Nesma is seeking neither popularity nor cool, her album reminds us of how unique Arabic music once was. So there you have it grow up and believe in the power of dreams again, this album will have a positive and an uplifting affect on your soul. Hope at last.

LISTEN: Amr 60 2012 Album Dance And Romance

Pop artists tend to use an interesting strategy over and over again. Bring out a new star,  build his brand up with a young fan base, he will cater to them....these fans grow up, make money and remember their star who was there for them when they were young poor and stupid.

Amr 60 released a pop single two weeks ago, and now comes the promo for his album, he has combined his music promo with his photo shoot--some crisp shots indeed. He does romance songs and light pop songs that will appeal to the easy fan with not too many options or musical experiences. I call them the virgin ears.  I like the promo and I like the beach even more.

It seems that Amr 60 is doing something right, he has already made a buzz online. Why not and he enjoys a great deal of those famous Egyptian look and that jaw. He has a sweet voice, but I think he can do even better, he is listening to his sound engineer too much. Set Amr 60 free....and you will be surprised.

I think the album will sell even though it is not being released on a holiday.

Adham Wagdy Not The Greatest But Convincing

Last year Adham Wagdy voiced a song for the revolution and the Arab Spring, on the collection album produced by Hamid El Shari under the title "An Arab Tale" Ever since then and I have not seen nor heard again from Adham Wagdy.

But he is back with a Ramadan song, few days before the end of the month, the song was picked by Melody Hits and it currently airs. The song is about the rituals of the month and you get a free tour of those popular Ramadan attractions.

I think Adham has a good voice, not a great one....that means I do not feel it's strong enough, so it sounds like Adham is stuck in the nasal area. Plus, I failed to find much info on Adham--Adham if you are readying try to reclaim your name on the net.

Are You Ready For The Wonderful Engy Nahas? تحميل اغنية انجي النحاس

The folks who live on the internet are crazy about this new talent, they have already predicted a rosy future for her and they have dubbed her voices the greatest. They compare her to the likes of Asala and Elissa, but certainly she is Engy El Nahas and not someone else.

Just look at the videos for her debut song, she has the viewership to prove it to you, she can deliver a decent song, she hails from the land of Egypt and has manged to get Mohammed Rahim to compose her songs for her, which is easy when you have the kind of talent and emotional depth Engy is able to pull.

I am impressed and glad to share this track with you...I think we better know the name and the breakout song, she is gonna be around for as long as she chooses to.

Watch London Olympics Egypt Theme Song

The London Olympics are upon us this summer, while the event is mostly for sports and marketing, music has its place--there's always place for music it seems. So for the Egypt  athletes competing for the Gold, Silver and such, they can boast about a new song that speaks to them....about not letting anything stop them from reaching for the gold

Nisma Mahjoub is the voice, naturally one needs an upbeat song for this topic and in that regard, the song delivers the energy. The music video features a number of Egypt's brightest athletes doing their thing. This song serves Nisma well as she gives us a glimpse of a stronger voice of hers that can hold a breath like a seasoned diver tries to.

The song is not exclusive to Egypt, all Arabs can relate to it and use it to pump them up. The song might as well double as a promo song for those beverage companies.

Nagwan Shines A Light On "Agaby" by Salah Jahin

Ramadan is a magical time, especially at night. Now, Ramadan is almost over, the the music networks are getting ready to go back to their "wicked" ways of attracting viewers with sex and lies. But since the month is not over yet, they have released a non Ramadan song. The song lyrics were written by the popular Egyptian literary figure Salah Jaheen

A gal with the name Nagwan picked them up for her song. I love the style of this song, it appeals to a lot of people who are grownup listeners in search of sobering music. You cannot hate the lute (oud) here, it delivers what you need it to do.

Plus the singer got the right temperament for this song. I love the minimalist music and the band accompanying the songstress. Aside from that little is know about Nagwan's career. This might be her big moment in the spotlight.

Palestinian Rapper Puts The Spotlight Back On Gaza

Mc Gaza is a gifted young rapper from Gaza with fans all across the Palestinian land and Egypt. The young rapper fills in the void for local rappers who are also well versed in politics and most importantly, the various rapping styles.

I like the way he flies from one note to another, and how he spits one line after another with a speed worthy of the great boxer Mohammad Ali himself. I know there have been a number of attempts at making rap a cool thing in Palestine, but I believe Mc Gaza might mange to do just that at home. He will do this, but not overdressing in those rapper like outfits, and making funny shapes....he has gone for the normal all Palestinian look and chose to rap about things at home and not some controversial topic.

And for his music video he turns himself into an activist and brings rare images for Gaza showing that no matter what life always goes on. His energy and the energy of young talents communicate that so well.
